Season Start (Friday Nov 5th)

4 Nov 2021 by Craig Furber

This is what you are all waiting for…. What time do we start on Friday?!?

On behalf of the committee, I am so sorry for the delay in this information. We have been stuck in the middle of waiting for Little Athletics Victoria’s Return to Safe Play Protocols (which arrived last night) and two councils signing off on our track use for tomorrow.

Anyway, it’s now done – and we start tomorrow night!

FRIDAY 5TH November – 5pm arrival for 5.30pm start (members only this week, trialing athletes start on 12th November) at Duncan McKinnon.

We do have some important information to share with you, so please read below on vaccinations, Covid requirements and weekly coaching sign ups.

Vaccination Position at SLAC

The Victorian State Government Department of Health & Human Services has adopted a position of our volunteers – parents/guardians, officials, coaches, Committee members and others necessary to conduct our sport – is not required to be checked or recorded if they are attending for the sole purpose of facilitating sanctioned Little Athletics activities.

While in practical terms, parents/guardians and all volunteers (both vaccinated and unvaccinated) can attend Little Athletics activities without having to confirm their vaccination status, SLAC feels strongly about the commitment towards the health & safety of its members. These are unique times we are facing and we are doing our best to ensure your primary wellbeing understanding the wide range of opinions in the community.

For this reason, we have introduced the policy below which is reflective of the Club’s commitment to your health & safety and inclusiveness. SLAC Committee’s major responsibility to all our athletes and their families is to strive to ensure our environment is as safe as it can be by minimising the risk of COVID transmission.

To do this, we need to will actively remove scenarios where any coaches, age group managers or supervisory roles involving close contact with our SLAC attendees are not held by unvaccinated people. SLAC respects the privacy of it’s members, volunteers and coaches and will offer an ‘opt out’ of coaching/duty roles and provide non-contact roles to ensure the wellbeing of our vulnerable athletes/members is paramount.

COVID Protocols for Safe Return to Little Athletics

Little Athletics Victoria published last night the protocols for us to adhere to in order to safely return to Little Aths:
